CK's blog:
I am writing this as my personal opinion. I do not wish to offend anyone in any way but I know I may. I have no problem with any nationality being here in the US as long as they come the proper way and do not come here to bring down the US. I know the Mexicans do the jobs that others won't and that they are often exploited and given sad wages. I just feel offended when I see that they are getting free health care because they do not pay or they get some kind of assistance that I can not and I was born here. There was a Mexican who was here and not a citizen and he had medical problems. He was a non-compliant diabetic that developed a foot ulcer. He received home health care for little to nothing. He also got most of his medical care for nothing. I am a hard working nurse who pays a lot a month for medical insurance. My son needed surgery and my husband and I now have a $2000 bill we are responsible for. This makes me upset. I also think it is crap that people of other origins come here and refuse to learn our language. They come to the hospital and demand to have interpreters. Interpreters are only able to be with the nurse, doctor and patient a short period of the day. They are there for about 30 minutes tops a day. The patients then get frustrated because the medical staff does not understand them. My husband learned English in a short amount of time and speaks English better than I do. He is a brilliant man but it does prove that you can learn. There are classes offered and just learning the basics help.
I am married to a Mexican and I love him and his family (well most of them ;P ) and I loved blending my culture with his. America is the "melting pot" and being full of different cultures is one of it's best features. Our forefathers came here and established rules, language, and freedom. People from different cultures are now coming here and trying to change this country to be like theirs. They want their language, cultures and beliefs to be the primary. If they want that then they should go back to their country and work out their problems there and stay there.
Alright I am stepping off my soap box. Thanks
